![]() I chose to start writing a blog today because 9/11 holds significance for me in regards to how the events of this day changed the course of my life, as it also did for countless others. On the morning of 9/11 I came home from working 3rd shift in a hospital laboratory in Tampa, FL. This was my first job after graduating early from college and it served to provide income as I planned my next step in life. My home at the time was an apartment not far from work where I lived by myself. I treated each morning as a morning, sort of, basically I ate breakfast before going to bed. I couldn't bring myself to eat a dinner in the morning. Typical to most mornings I turned on the television to watch the Today show while eating my breakfast-dinner before heading off to bed. Not 5 minutes after watching TV did I see the unbelievable unfold before my eyes. Something hit the World Trade Center. This was how it played out for me: Something hit the World Trade Center. We think it's a plane. Not sure the type of plane. There is another plane. The second tower is hit. It's a commercial plane. Not sure which airline. Not sure where they came from. ---My mom was a flight attendant and flying out of the northeast that morning--- They are United and American Airlines. ---My mom flew for Delta---Thank you GOD! Her plane was flying from the northeast to FL and landed just short of its destination in TAMPA of all places! I spent the night with her in her hotel room. After that day my mom made changes in her career and I followed. I won't get into too many details to protect her privacy but I moved from Tampa at the beginning of the following year. A college friend and I decided to take a vacation to Key West the following summer. There I met my now husband while he was stationed there in the military. The military took him to California a year later. A year after that I followed. California is where I decided to attend chiropractic school. Now the military has brought us to the birthplace of formal chiropractic and here I practice always remembering that had it not been for 9/11 I might not have moved from Tampa, might not have met my husband, might not have gone to chiropractic school, might not a lot of things, but the most important thing is that I did, in spite of terror, because of freedom, I was led here. Thank you GOD and God Bless the United States of America!
